Why does the Village "flush" the water lines?
Flushing is an industry standard used to scour sediment from the pipes. It helps to prevent red water problems. Flushing removes any stale water that may be sitting in low use pipes such as cul-de-sacs, dead ends, or new subdivisions. Most of the red will be discharged from the fire hydrants, but some may be carried up your service lateral into your home. Opening your taps and running the water for a minute or two will clear the discoloration.
We will have information on our website and on the automatic reader boards at 12781 Velp Ave and 2855 Carolina Cherry prior to flushing to make you aware that we will be doing so. Please check the water before doing laundry. If you get stains on light-colored clothing, we suggest a product called White Wash made by RIT available at most grocery stores. Although it may not be appealing to look at, it is chlorinated and bacteria free.
We will typically flush the system once in the late summer or early fall.

What is the average charge for sewer and water?
The Village considers 14,000 gallons of water per quarter to be an average amount of usage per household. This number can fluctuate significantly depending on the number of people in the home and the amount of water they choose to use. No two residences can be compared when it comes to water usage.
The metered water rate is $3.13 per 1,000 gallons of water used. The metered sewer rate is $8.37 per 1,000 gallons of water used. We have three flat fees: a $24.90 water service charge, $65.20 sewer capital debt charge and $13.61 for GBMSD Fixed Rate Charge.
Based on the average of 14,000 gallons of water usage quarterly, residents who have both sewer and water service will pay $43.82 for metered water usage, $24.90 for the water service charge, $117.18 for metered sewer usage, $65.20 for the sewer capital debt charge and $13.61 for GBMSD Fixed Rate Charge. The total bill would be $264.71.
If you have sewer service only, the quarterly bill will be $196.01. This bill is made up of our flat fees of $117.20 for unmetered sewer usage, $65.20 for sewer capital debt and $13.61 GBMSD Fixed Rate Charge.
Where do I pay my sewer and/or water bill? What payment methods are accepted?
You may pay your sewer and water bill at the Municipal Services Center, 12781 Velp Avenue, Suamico, WI 54313, or place it in the drop box located outside the front door of that building.
In addition to checks, cash, or money orders, an automatic payment may be set up. You may print off this form, pick up a form at the Village Office, or request a form be mailed to you by contacting us at (920) 434-2212. A voided CHECK is required to complete the process for automatic payment. Funds will be deducted from your checking or savings account on the due date of the utility bill or on a monthly basis, which ever you prefer..
Online payments can now be made from our website. Choose Online Payment on the left and follow the instructions. VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover are accepted. However, there will be a processing fee associated with all credit/debit card payments.

How often must I pay my utility bill?
Sewer and water bills are sent out quarterly. Bills are issued at the beginning of January, April, July, and October of every year. Charges are for service already received, meaning we bill in arrears. For example, the October bill would be for services used the prior three months: July, August, and September. Customers have until the 20th of the month they are billed to pay before late penalties are applied.
The Utility instituted a disconnection program in April 2007 for customers who are not current on their bills. For those customers that may be affected by this, please make a payment as soon as possible to bring your account balance up-to-date. We encourage you to sign up for the Automatic Payment Authorization (ACH program) to remain current on payments. This allows us to do an automatic withdrawal from the account of your choice either on a quarterly or monthly basis. Please click here for the request form.

Is there a credit available for summer watering?
The Village of Suamico calculates a summer sewer credit for residential water customers in the third quarter (July through September) of each year. The credit is given to help offset the cost of water used but not returned to the sewer system. An example of this type of usage would be lawn or garden watering. The sewer credit is figured on the difference between your actual third quarter water usage and the average water usage of your previous three quarters. If you do not have three full quarters of actual water usage, the standard average of 14,000 gallons per quarter is used.
