Neighborhood
Watch Program

|
|
Neighborhood Watch is a program that encourages members of the community to join with law enforcement to prevent illegal activity in their neighborhoods. Citizens are taught how to implement ways to lessen the chance they will be a victim of a crime and how to report suspicious activity to law enforcement.
A Neighborhood Watch group usually consists of a group of residents who live near one another. The program is designed so that members work together to watch each other's property and report suspicious activity. The slogan for the National Neighborhood Watch Institute is "We look out for each other". Members of a Neighborhood Watch group get to know participant's routines, such as when they are at work, what kind of vehicles they drive, and when they are on vacation. With this insight, members can contact law enforcement when they see something out of the ordinary.
We encourage residents to meet with their neighbors to determine if there is an interest in starting a Neighborhood Watch group in your area. We can provide details about how to hold the start-up meeting.
If you have any questions about starting a Neighborhood Watch please contact Jody Breider, Village of Suamico's DEO at 448-4210. |
