The Economic Development Committee shall propose recommendations for the location and type of future commercial and industrial growth within the Village of Suamico, as well as coordinate and carry out marketing efforts with the appointed marketing members of this Committee and Village staff who will produce plans, methods, and materials that will effectively convey to both internal and external agencies, organizations, and businesses the qualities that make the Village of Suamico a community in which to locate a household, organization, or business.

Based on the above, the Economic Development Committee shall undertake the following duties:

  1. Discuss and develop a Village of Suamico commercial and industrial plan based on consistent existing land use, sufficient infrastructure (existing or proposed) for the proposed land uses, and trends of growth.  This activity includes creation of a future land use map that could be created in conjunction with an amendment to the Village of Suamico Comprehensive Plan.
  2. Based on the plan's goals and objectives, prepare an annual budget request for each fiscal year.
  3. Present the plan and budget to the Village Board for consideration.
  4. After budget and plan approval, assign activities to commission members and Village staff as needed.
  5. Implement and monitor activities detailed in the plan.  Adjust activities if necessary.
  6. Evaluate the impact of the plan's goals and objectives.  Update the plan and related map as needed.

The marketing members of this Committee shall undertake the following duties which will support the efforts of the Committee:

  1. Discuss and develop a Village of Suamico marketing plan based on best practices.  This activity includes creation of achievable goals and measurable objectives.
  2. Based on the goals and objectives, prepare an annual budget request for each fiscal year.
  3. Present the plan and budget to the Village Board for consideration.
  4. After budget and plan approval, assign activities to commission members.
  5. Implement and monitor activities detailed in the plan.  Adjust activities if necessary.
  6. Evaluate the impact of the marketing plan based on goals and objectives.

The Committee is made up of one trustee and six residents appointed by the Village President and approved by the Village Board with a term of office for three years, staggered.  Meetings are held the 4th Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Municipal Services Center, 12781 Velp Avenue on an as needed basis.

Members include Kevin Brotski - Chair, Bill Chambers, Kelly King, Mike Schneider - Trustee, Greg Klimek, Bryan Schultz, and Chris Calawerts.
